These two consecutive pages represent a typical text based page in Avrils book Temples Anciens et modernes. The to us unusual alignment of the textblock, the headline, which shows the title on every page, as well as the marginal notes, featuring a for the human eye confusing alignment, are to be pointed out.
The striking positioning of this illustration marks the importance of it. The illustration is pulled over the edge of the page onto the next one. Even though there is a lot of blank space the illustration does not lose its effect. Furthermore is to be commented, that this double page is wider than a usual one. This as a result of the left page being able to get unfolded and therefore provides more space.
These two beautiful pages can be found on the very first and very last two pages. They are surprisingly colorful compared to the rest of the book and stand out as the first and last page in a book are usually blank or show a small note.
